Bursa Travel Guide

Bursa is the perfect destination for a short trip from Istanbul, where in just a few days you can discover a completely different side of Turkey. The city lies comfortably at the foot of the majestic Little Olympus mountain and retains an atmosphere of calm and authenticity. There are no tourist crowds here, so you can feel the true rhythm of Turkish life, be inspired by the views, and find what resonates with you.
How to Get to Bursa
There are several ways to get to Bursa. You can fly here directly, rent a car, or take a regular bus from any city. In our opinion, the most interesting way is to take a ferry from Istanbul directly across the Sea of Marmara. The ferry departs from Eminönü and takes about 2 hours.
Upon arriving in Mudanya, be sure to visit the house where the Mudanya Armistice was signed on October 11, 1922 — a significant milestone in Turkey's history marking the end of the War of Independence. Today, it is not just a museum but a place where history comes alive within walls that preserve the spirit of the era. After your visit, stroll around the area: charming streets, colorful buildings, and the peaceful atmosphere of the coastal town await you.
On the waterfront in the port area, you can take a leisurely stroll and catch your breath after the ferry ride. It's nice to stop at one of the cozy cafés and enjoy Turkish coffee accompanied by soft sütlaç, fragrant künefe, or other traditional sweets. The sea breeze and the taste of local desserts create the perfect mood to start your journey.
Bursa from Above
Bursa stretches at the foot of the majestic Uludağ mountain, once called Little Olympus. One of the most picturesque views of the city opens from the slope near the former Sultan's hunting lodge — from here, Bursa appears especially grand and harmonious, immersed in greenery and history.

The easiest way to get here is by taxi, and in return you'll enjoy panoramic views of Bursa from above. This green and peaceful spot is perfect for a stroll among the trees and quiet. If you want to get a deeper sense of the past, visit the small museum on-site — it holds interesting pages of history.
UNESCO Village Visit
One of the main reasons to visit Bursa is the opportunity to see the historic village, whose unique architecture and authentic atmosphere have been protected since 1980. Everything here looks different from familiar Turkey: narrow streets, colorful houses, and a unique appearance that preserves the spirit of distant centuries.
This village is located slightly east of Bursa and is easily accessible — you can reach it by taxi or metro, then take a short walk. The place is unique: it preserves authentic early Ottoman architecture with a history of over seven centuries. The village amazes with its beauty and charm — colorful houses, narrow streets still inhabited by real farmers, and sometimes funny little tractors instead of cars. The atmosphere is truly special, as if time has stopped.

Evening Bursa
As evening falls, the center of Bursa comes alive and lights up, turning into a cozy place for a stroll and dinner. The atmosphere is created by beautifully lit mosques, bustling markets, and historic streets. A special charm is added by the historic tram, which you can ride right through the city center to feel the spirit of old Bursa.

This unusual and stunningly beautiful bridge, with over five centuries of history, is a true gem of Bursa. Once a major trade route, it is now transformed into a lively gallery: along its arches are souvenir shops and art studios offering unique handmade items. Walking across the bridge is a journey through time and a touch of the city's authentic artisanal spirit.

This park immediately catches the eye with its picturesque views of the canal, bridge, and illuminated modern buildings. In reality, it’s much larger than it seems at first glance. On a typical weekday evening, locals gather here: families picnic, enjoy the fresh air, and soak in the warm atmosphere. Watching this is a real pleasure, as the Turkish love for nature and family recreation creates a unique sense of coziness and city life.
Two days are enough to get acquainted with Bursa and feel its rhythm and charm. This is non-touristy Turkey — wonderfully cozy, clean, and beautiful, where every corner seems made for leisurely walks and discoveries. If you have time, be sure to visit nearby Eskişehir — a modern, lively, and colorful city that perfectly complements your travel experience.
Bursa is not located on the coast, so after the ferry you have a short journey inland. You can reach the city by bus, which regularly departs from the pier, or choose a more comfortable option — a taxi.
